Bachelor of Graphic Design

The Bachelor of Graphic Design may be completed in three years of full-time on-campus study or up to nine years part-time.
The Bachelor of Graphic Design gives students the opportunity to develop their design practice to a highly proficient and professional level. It demands the development of strong skills encompassing both contemporary technologies and traditional design process, recognising that both are necessary for employment in the graphic design industry.

Graduates will have a strong practical portfolio of works demonstrating graphic design application to real design problems, with a sense of social and environmental responsibility. They will be able to apply theoretical concepts, technical, and creative skills to a range of design tasks, with the ability to research, analyse, evaluate information, and plan approaches to technical and management problems.
The graphic design industry is both broad and specialised. To this end the design degree lays a strong theoretical foundation in its first year, while broadening in second year to practical application of design projects capturing the three major areas of the design industry: Print, Advertising, and Multimedia. In third year, the student progresses to an increasingly specialised area of their choosing, and given the opportunity to complete a major project in their chosen speciality. Theoretical studies inform the practical units throughout the degree. Within this structure, students are given an overview of the design industry, including contemporary design business management skills.
