Graduate School of Counselling
Compassionate Christians often seek training in counselling to better enable them to bring care and hope to those in distress. The courses in the Graduate School of Counselling integrate Biblical principles with sound counselling practice to facilitate holistic and informed counselling careers.
Located in the Sydney harbour side suburb of Drummoyne, only 15 minutes from the city centre, campus life reflects a multi-denominational, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary approach to education.
FEE-HELP is available for eligible students.
The counselling courses are offered on-campus in facilities that provide for every aspect of counsellor training. A professional counselling centre with dedicated counselling rooms equipped for practice and supervision offers students opportunities to work under the supervision of counsellors and psychologists. The School of Counselling also includes offices, tutorial rooms, lecture rooms, and therapy rooms. The Gordon Moyes Library gives students access to extensive specialist print collections, on-line databases, audio-visual facilities, and computing labs with free internet access. Our highly qualified academic staffs, all of whom are in current professional practice, deliver the course and provide leadership, supervision and mentoring to students.
Master of Counselling
The Master of Counselling provides an opportunity for advanced training in the general counselling areas with an emphasis on integrating therapeutic skills with a Christian worldview. The course is based upon a comprehensive, common body of professional knowledge, skills and values. The course units are designed to enable students to utilise a range of theories, concepts of practice, and research and practical skills relevant to working with clients in a variety of contexts. This postgraduate course enables students to achieve a strong theoretical understanding and the advanced level of skills needed by practising counsellors. Students have opportunity to develop competency in psychotherapy, relationship and family counselling or child adolescent and family counselling.
Completion of the Master of Counselling will qualify students for entry into appropriate member associations of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
Graduate Diploma of Counselling
The Graduate Diploma of Counselling is the award given to students wishing to exit the masters program after completing a course load of ten units or 100 credit points, the equivalent of one year full-time study (which may be completed in up to three years of part-time study).
