More than a uni

Our Community

At Wesley Institute we want your experience to be one of great significance and transformation. Both in and out of the classroom, our collaborative community gives you the opportunity to make friends across all schools, and to attend a variety of performances and productions throughout the year. We are also committed to the ensemble-like atmosphere our campus offers, which encourages interaction between students, and between students and staff. Read more about our community and campus life.

Career Development

Industry Links
They say it’s whom you know that counts, and at Wesley Institute, the relationships you form across the disciplines will stand you in good stead. Our graduates go on to collaborate with each other on projects and share news of opportunities and available positions in their industries. Our industry-experienced tutors and faculty staff are also invaluable in the process of developing and focussing your career, with all faculties offering personalised advice and industry masterclasses, conferences and workshops.

International Opportunities
Travelling is a great way to put your learning into practice, and there are plenty of opportunities to expand your experience and get an international perspective before graduation:

  • Students in the School of Drama can audition for a three month intensive training in the Institute's OZ to LA industry placement program. You will study with working industry professionals, attend conventions and visit dramatic arts-centred churches and organisations, all while experiencing life in the movie-making capital of the English-speaking world. The program will culminate in audition feedback with Hollywood casting agents.
  • School of Music students can audition to travel internationally with the Wesley Institute Choir, performing as an ensemble throughout places like Europe and China. “I was part of the European tour in 2007 that took 1st place in the Summa Cum Laude Music Festival in Vienna. I’ll never forget it.” Elizabeth Beilharz, Bachelor of Music, Master of Music (2010)
  • Students across all Schools can apply to undertake the Biblical Sites Study unit, travelling to and studying key Biblical sites like Jericho, the Mount of Olives, the City of David and the Egypt of Moses’ time.
  • Units in the Schools of Dance and Drama offer the opportunity to undertake industry placements in professional companies and organisations. Previous placements include work with Wicked, African Puppets, Quizworx, BlackStump Arts Festival and Ryde Youth Theatre.
