FEE-HELP (FEE Higher Education Loan Programme) is a loan facility
for eligible students (ie, an Australian citizen or those who hold a
permanent humanitarian visa) enrolled in fee-paying, postgraduate
non-research courses.
FEE-HELP is similar to the deferred payment arrangements allowed to
undergraduate students through HECS-HELP. It enables eligible students
to apply for a loan from the Commonwealth Government to cover part or
all of their tuition fees, and to defer repayment of the loan (CPI
linked) until their income reaches the minimum payment threshold. The
main difference is that the course fees the loan covers are not set
within ranges stipulated by the government, but are each institution's
discretion.
