International Speaker and Founder-President of Leading the Way, Dr. Michael Youssef, Speaks at Wesley Institute
Dr. Michael Youssef’s whirlwind 2011 Australian Tour, titled Sheep Among Wolves, has included booked-out speaking engagements in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. Wesley Institute was privileged to partner in the event and host Dr. Youssef for a presentation and discussion with students and staff on Thursday 26 May at the Wesley Institute Theatre.
Dr. Youssef was born in Egypt, and lived in Lebanon and Australia before moving to the United States. He holds degrees from Moore College in Sydney and Fuller Theological Seminary in California, and earned his Ph.D. in social anthropology from Emory University. He has authored more than 20 books, is founding pastor of The Church of The Apostles in Atlanta, GA (U.S.A.), and also the founder and president of Leading the Way, a global media ministry that is passionate about communicating the uncompromising Truth to reach people wherever they may be to help them discover the light of Christ.
Leading the Way incorporates the creative use of media, including TV, radio, internet, podcasts, a 24/7 satellite channel and printed resources, as well as on-the-ground follow-up personnel, to present the Gospel over 3,800 times every week in 20 languages across 200 countries.
In his address at Wesley Institute, Dr. Youssef discussed Islamic and Christian worldviews. As a Christian, Dr. Youssef advocated the importance of standing firm on a Biblical worldview, believing a solid Christian worldview equips graduates to be more grounded, resilient professionals. He also discussed the necessity of understanding other worldviews as we attempt to evaluate ongoing conflicts around the world and share the love of Christ.
Dr. Youssef’s presentation concluded with a Q&A session that saw eager audience participation. Dr. Youssef welcomed the dynamic dialogue, and offered frank responses to some hard-hitting topics.
The integration of a Christian worldview across all areas of life and all vocations, and the implications of this as graduates move to the professional world, is very much aligned with Wesley Institute’s vision and mission - to transform lives through excellence in Christian higher education as we seek to benefit our community by equipping people to live godly lives in influential vocations.
