The Stephens Family

Mark is the inaugural recipient of the Christine Dixon Medal for Best Doctoral Thesis in Early Christian Thought from Macquarie University for his doctoral thesis called “Destroying the Destroyers of the Earth: The Meaning and Function of New Creation in the book of Revelation.” The thesis primarily examines whether Revelation envisions the annihilation of the present creation, or its renewal.

Mark has received an invitation to publish the thesis with academic publishing house, Mohr Siebeck, with the book due out next year. Mark says his particular passion in regards to the New Testament is that people would see the text for what it is saying, not what we want it to say. “To hear God speak, rather than have my own thoughts confirmed, is what challenges and inspires me.”

Wesley Institute wishes to congratulate Dr. Mark Stephens on his accomplishments in the field of Biblical Theology.
