Assistant Head of Counselling to Present her Research at an International Conference
Dr. Marie-Therese Proctor, Wesley Institute’s Assistant Head of the Graduate School of Counselling, will be presenting two papers at an upcoming conference, Spirituality in the 21st Century: At the Interface of Theory, Praxis and Pedagogy, in Prague, Czech Republic, from Sunday 20 March – Tuesday 22 March: an exciting opportunity for Dr Proctor who was invited, along with 65 academics, healthcare professionals and educators from around the globe to attend the conference.
Marie-Therese’s first paper, ‘A delicate balance: The intersection of the spiritual and psychological in healthcare‘, uses the case of a death of a child from a life-limiting condition, and explores individual family members’ utilisation of their spiritual beliefs and the corporate spiritual landscape, along with religious/spiritual tones and themes, as they informed and framed the family members’ bereavement journeys.
Her second publication, written in collaboration with Dr Maureen Miner, Dr Loyola McLean, Dr Martin Dowson (Academic Director, Wesley Institute) and Dr Stuart Devenish, explores the theme of psycho-spiritual ‘attachment to God.’ It is titled Exploring the psycho-spiritual ‘attachment to God’: The contribution of Australian researchers.
We are very pleased to have Dr. Marie-Therese Proctor represent Wesley Institute at this international event. Stay tuned for an update on Dr Proctor’s return.
