Four second-year drama student flew to LA on the 18th of November for the beginning of their Oz-to-LA Industry Placement. This subject, undertaken as part of the Bachelor of Dramatic Art, sees them spend 13 weeks in intensive specialist acting training at the Acting Corps in Hollywood. They are also attending networking events with Christian artists in Hollywood and participating in industry talks covering topics such as "Ethics and The Industry” and “The art of feeding the dream, while living the reality: A Faith/Art/Life interaction.” With a VIP tour of the Warner Brothers Studios and excursions to Bel Air Presbyterian Church, The Dream Center, Oasis church and Paramount Studios (among others), their experience of Oz-to-LA is already proving to be challenging, informative and inspirational.
November: Our students celebrate their first week of intensive classes in LA with an Orientation BBQ, visits to Reality LA and Mosaic churches, a theatre production by Actors Coop, an introduction to Cornerstone Theater Company, and a Thanksgiving dinner!
December: Another month of full-time intensive acting training. Our students will also visit Ecclesia and Oasis churches, meet with industry professionals, tour Warner Brothers, and attend industry convention "Feeding the Dream/Living the Reality."
January: In addition to wall-to-wall acting sessions, our students will attend industry and networking events 'Connecting with Like-Minded Artists' and 'Ethics & the Industry', revisit Mosaic and Reality LA churches and take extra acting for camera sessions.
February: The last week of the Oz-to-LA placement finishes with a casting session and assessment.
