Wesley Institute's School of Theology focuses on applied theology which equips people for creative and godly contributions to a range of exciting vocations, including careers in school teaching (with further study through the Institute's School of Education).

The Theology courses will provide:

  • Biblical truth and excellence in scholarship
  • the unchanging Gospel expressed in culturally diverse ways
  • practical application of theology in the workplace
  • pastoral formation of its students and  
  • integration of theology and the arts.

If you are interested in pursuing a degree for vocational, personal or spiritual development, the School of Theology provides a range of courses within a flexible structure to meet your needs. We have approval from the NSW Department of Education to offer the following courses:

Career Opportunities

The courses present a wide range of subjects from which students choose their specialisations and pathways. Potential careers would include the specified ministry, youth ministry, hospital chaplaincy, prison ministry, missionary service, and lay ministry in churches or parachurch organisations. The addition of the Institute's Graduate Diploma of Education to the Bachelor of Theology enables graduates to be accredited secondary school teachers or chaplains.

Wesley Institute encourages cross-cultural dialogue and integration between disciplines. Academic staff are particularly committed to exploring and facilitating integration between theology and the arts, and have pioneered studies and research reflecting this dialogue.

FEE-HELP  is available for eligible students. Undergraduate courses also qualify for Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy.
