Scholarships for Secondary Teaching

The NSW Department of Education and Communities is offering up to 300 scholarships through the 2012 Teacher Education Scholarship Program!

For individuals who already have a degree, and/or are looking to change careers, the scholarship will provide support for students who wish to be employed as secondary teachers of mathematics, science (particularly physics) or English (particularly in combination with drama or history) in NSW public schools in western and south western Sydney and non-coastal rural areas of NSW.

Wesley Institute's Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) offers curriculum studies in each of these areas.

Scholars will receive a $5,000 annual training allowance while studying full time for a teaching qualification. Upon competition of studies, scholars are guaranteed permanent employment in a NSW public school in an agreed location and awarded a further $3,000 to assist with expenses such as relocation costs.

Applications close 7 October 2011. Click here to be directed to the Teaching Scholarships on the NSW Department of Education and Communities' website.
