Bachelor of Dramatic Art

The Bachelor of Dramatic Art is a specialist degree with professional outcomes offered from a Christian perspective.

About the Course

The Bachelor of Dramatic Art is a specialist degree with professional outcomes offered from a Christian perspective. It provides an extensive introduction to all the major aspects of theatre.

The course is offered with three strands of specialisation, allowing you to take classes unique to your chosen career path:

  • Performance: This course prepares actors to compete in the highly rigorous theatre industry. Acting, voice and movement skills are developed, with students exploring both theoretical and practical perspectives.
  • Production: This course provides an intellectual and artistic foundation for professional careers in the areas of theatre production and direction.
  • Theatre Practice: This course offers a mixture of performance and production units in one program, enabling the development of well-rounded theatrical skills useful for work in small theatre companies. Paired with our Graduate Diploma of Education, it also satisfies the requirements for secondary Drama teaching.

At a glance:

  • Face to face (on-campus) delivery
  • Workshop style training, small group and individual tuition
  • Duration: 3 years full time or up to 6 years part time
  • FEE-HELP available

Regular productions supply excellent opportunities for practical training and our outstanding faculty, headed by Dr Herman Pretorius, offer specialist support and a wealth of knowledge and experience.
