They extend an appropriate undergraduate degree with teacher training to provide the teaching qualification required for teacher registration. Our education courses acknowledges and embraces the tremendous fulfilment and satisfaction that is a part of teaching, and the many opportunities teachers have to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young adults. At Wesley Institute, teacher training is offered alongside counselling courses, theology, and the creative and performing arts. The education course is written from a Christian worldview and prepares generalist primary teachers or specialist secondary teachers to teach in independent, state and, in particular, Christian schools. Biblical Studies is a required area of study for both primary and secondary programs. Online Learning
With the exception of a compulsory orientation which takes place on campus, the course is delivered online. Students receive their course materials on CD and interact through WI Online. The field experience (practicum) is normally undertaken in schools in the area in which the pre-service teacher lives.
