The School of Counselling provides study options with a flexible timetable, allowing students to coordinate study with work, family and other commitments.

The School of Counselling provides a flexible timetable, allowing students to coordinate study with family, work, church and other commitments.

Classes are offered in a number of formats:

  • Weekly classes (evening classes at the Drummoyne campus)
  • Weekend intensives (both at the Drummoyne campus and the Central Coast Campus)
  • Block intensives (of a one week duration) – for some Masters elective units

Students are able to configure a course progression (in consultation with the School) that supports them in meeting family, work and other commitments while achieving their academic goals and counselling career aspirations.

Students commencing in 2013 can select one of the two following progression pathways – full-time OR part-time study.

Progression Option A

These students complete a total of 14 units.

  • Option 1 - Unit 1 - Wednesday evening 6pm-9pm (weekly format) & Unit 2 – Thursday evening 6pm -9pm (weekly format)
  • Option 2 - Unit 1- Wednesday evening 6pm-9pm (weekly format) & Unit 2 – Weekend Intensive (2 weekends across the semester)
  • Option 3 - Unit 1 Thursday evening 6pm -9pm (weekly format) & Unit 2 – Weekend Intensive (2 weekends across the semester)
  • Option 4 - Unit 1 - Weekend Intensive (2 weekends across the semester) & Unit 2 – Weekend Intensive (2 weekends across the semester)

Living Outside Sydney

WELSEY INSTITUTE COUNSELLING PROGRAM GOES NATIONAL – New opportunity to study to become a counsellor or to upgrade current counselling qualifications.

From 2013, The School of Counselling is pleased to announce that both the Graduate Diploma and Master of Counselling Programs can be completed by people living outside Sydney, via a part-time program consisting of a combination of weekend and block intensives.

The program is designed to minimise the number of times students are required to be on-site, with options for counselling placements in students’ local areas with supervision via Skype. Every effort has been made to find the right balance between experiential learning with experienced practitioners and academics, alongside the convenience of being able to study at home.
