Louise Gosbell – 2005 Master of Theology Graduate
Louise received a Bachelor of Theology from Wesley Institute in 2000, and consequently went on to finish a Master of Theology in 2005. She was drawn to Wesley Institute because she appreciated the multi-denominational culture, as well as the integration of faith and the arts. Some of Louise’s fondest memories from her studies at Wesley Institute include building relationships with other students, hanging out on the grassy knoll, and Easter ministry events.
Since graduating with a Master of Theology in 2005, Louise has maintained a very busy schedule. She is currently enrolled as a full-time student in the first year of her PhD at Macquarie University, focusing on ancient history addressing the issue of disability in the gospel of Luke.
Louise also serves as an adjunct New Testament lecturer at Wesley Institute, and is the Regional Co-ordinator for the Luke 14 program in Sydney, an initiative of CBM Australia. The program is aimed at assisting churches seeking to become more inclusive of people living with disability. This year, Louise ran an intensive course titled, ‘Ministering to People with Disabilities: The Inclusion of the Excluded’, at Wesley Institute. Students enrolled received credit towards a Bachelor of Theology or Master of Theology.
In the future, Louise will be heading to the UK for 3 months to study at Tyndale House (part of Cambridge University) to continue work on her PhD. She will also be continuing her work with churches in the area of disability.
“I am motivated by God’s universal message of salvation available to all because of Christ,” says Louise. “I feel passionately that this message should be extended to all people, including the marginalised and forgotten members of our communities.”
